Trinity County

Trinity Countyis located in the pine forests of East Texas, and lies between the historic Neches and Trinity Rivers.  Named for the Trinity River, it was created from Houston County in 1850.  Historically, the economy of the area was based on timber production.  However, with the completion of the Trinity River Authority?s 90,000-acre Lake Livingstonin the early 1970?s, tourism and outdoor recreation have become vital industries.

Trinity County offers great recreation for the entire family, fishing, resorts, golfing, camping, RV facilities, hunting, and shopping at local antique stores.

Trinity County has two municipalities.  Groveton is located near the county?s geographic center and is the county seat. Trinity is situated on Lake Livingston?s Trinity Peninsula.  Other communities include Apple Springs, Centralia, Friday, Glendale, Pennington, Sebastopol and Woodlake.
